Cliff Anchor was a man of many talents. Aside from tireless activism in his later years, the life he led was as rich and extraordinary as the men he loved. Dr. Tom Dooley, his first love was rated by a Gallup poll in 1959 as one of the ten most admired men in the United States, right after President Eisenhower and Pope John XXIII. His relationship with Leonard Matlovich, the first man to challenge the Air Force's policy on gays in the military before appearing on the cover of Time Magazine followed. The death of both men left Cliff with a devoted passion to taking a strong stand for what he believed in.
